Job Skills Program (JSP) awards grants to licensed educational institutions in Washington.

Funds are awarded on a first-approved, rolling basis throughout the fiscal year.

Washington’s Job Skills Program (JSP), funded through the State Board of Community and Technical Colleges, serves to develop new or existing workers' skills, retain and grow living wage jobs, and help companies improve their competitiveness to strengthen Washington's economy. This unique wage-matching grant program can provide a significant reduction in the out-of-pocket cost for training and hands-on implementation projects (learning by doing).

What is the Job Skills Program?
Washington's Job Skills Program (JSP) is training customized to meet employers' specific needs. Training delivering to new or current employees can be at the worksite or in a classroom.

What is the Purpose?
JSP training is a tool for enhancing the growth of Washington's economy and increasing employment opportunities.

These funds are best when you have 7-10+ people who need training in the same subject.  These subjects may include soft skills (leadership training, project management) and hard skills (Lean, Toyota Kata, Train the trainer, blueprint reading, math, Excel).

What is the timeline for applying?
The application date is 5/31/21 - though you will want to get prepared well in advance.  JSP funds awarded in this round must be used by 6/15/23.

What costs are involved?
Grants awarded may require a 20% cost match, but costs are determined on a case-by-case basis by the sponsoring community college.

What is the Application Process?

  1. Identify the training in which you are interested.
  2. Impact Washington will help you determine the scope and cost of the training.
  3. We will introduce you to one of the community colleges that administers this grant to help with the application process.

Impact Washington can help your manufacturing company train and implement operational excellence, workforce solutions, and growth & innovation services. A list of popular training courses is attached. We can also provide a free Business Evaluation to help you identify and prioritize services that would be eligible for the JSP grant program.

Funds are awarded on a first-approved, rolling basis throughout the fiscal year.
