Manufacturing Day 2021 | Statewide In-Person and Virtual Events

Inspiring the Next Generation of Manufacturers

VIEW 2021 #MFG DAY EVENTS IN WASHINGTON

Manufacturing Day Mission

Manufacturing Day (MFG DAY) gives manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. By working together during and after MFG DAY, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry. The goal is to help manufacturers build a steady pipeline of qualified and diversified manufacturing talent to help develop and support local economies for decades to come.

What is Manufacturing Day - MFG DAY?

The first Manufacturing Day was held in 2012, with growing participation throughout the U.S. observed annually on the first Friday of each October, National Manufacturing Day brings together manufacturers, educational institutions, and companies across the country to expose students, teachers, parents, and community leaders to the opportunity and potential of manufacturing careers. Manufacturing Day is put on by the Manufacturing Institute, the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM).  In many areas, Manufacturing has turned into a month-long event.

On MFG Day, Washington manufacturers open their doors and take up the important work of inspiring our young people to pursue careers in manufacturing and engineering. Today’s science, technology, engineering, and math graduates will power the next chapter of American production and innovation, and harnessing their potential is an economic imperative.

Impact Washington supports MFG Day and celebrates manufacturers who unlock new technologies that grow our economy, create jobs through entrepreneurship, and help revitalize American manufacturing.

Manufacturers will need to hire 4 million workers between now and 2030 to account for growth and fill positions left open by retiring workers, according to a recent study by Deloitte and the MI. Yet 2.1 million of those jobs could go unfilled because of the skills gap.

Impact Washington is proud to be an Official Endorser for Manufacturing Day
