Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee

Meet Noah Retallic, a 17 year-old Automation Technician Youth Apprentice through the Aerospace Joint Apprenticeship Committee (AJAC). Noah enrolled in the Youth Apprenticeship in Spring 2020 and immediately began his on-the-job training (OJT) at Ephrata Machinery in Ephrata, Washington—a rural community in Eastern Washington.

This fall, Noah will begin his apprenticeship classes through Columbia Basin Tech (credited via Big Bend Community College) while continuing his 2,000 hours of OJT. Ephrata Machinery invited AJAC to their machine to tell Noah's story on how he became involved in manufacturing and his desire to grow within the industry.

Association of Washington Business (AWB) - Manufacturing Week Live

Traditionally, Association of Washington Business staffers spend more than a week in a custom-wrapped tour bus, visiting shop floors in every corner of the state and in every sort of industry, from mint flavoring and agriculture to metal fabrication and PPE manufacturing. The bus will tour raised awareness of the role manufacturing plays, supported the successful growth of our state’s manufacturing sector, and also gave us the opportunity to call some attention to some of our state’s manufacturers who are contributing to their communities and the state economy in innovative and impactful ways.  As you might have guessed, in accordance with state health standards, the 2020 Manufacturing Week bus tour will look a little different. AWB will still be highlighting manufacturers all across the state this year, but instead of AWB staff touring your facility, we’ll be focusing our efforts on pushing out a series of broadcasts. Every show will be full of interviews and will be featuring different locations every day. Employers, students, parents and educators will be able to tune in from the comfort of their home, office or on the go with their mobile device.

This year’s events will look a little different, but we will continue to host a wide range of programming, including virtual panel discussions, studio tours, tastings, and online classes!

Many of the week’s events will coordinate with the products in either the Taste of Seattle Made or Seattle Made Wellness Box. October 21

Seattle-area students are invited to virtually attend Allegion's 2020 TGP MFG Day celebration on from 1-2:30 p.m. PT. This "virtual field trip" will include live conversations with our plant leadership team as well as a look at our manufacturing facilities across the U.S., with information on jobs and technological advancements in manufacturing. An employee panel discussion will showcase different career paths, while an Allegion leader shares their journey from the manufacturing floor, too. We want to give students an inside look at how they can develop the skills needed to qualify for long-term careers in the essential and exciting manufacturing industry. Whether students are physically in the classroom this year or if they are e-learning, this will be an engaging, fun and educational virtual field trip.
