Having spent the last several years in Burlington, Vermont, I had always heard of the other artsy forest city on the far side of the country. Curious as to how this supposed home away from home holds up, I decided to find employment in the Seattle area and spend the summer experiencing it. My search ended rather abruptly after meeting Loren Lyon and Jessica Ingle here at Impact Washington. The notion of helping local small businesses lined up perfectly with my intentions of getting to know the area, and so I landed here a few weeks ago.
Just as I joined, we were jumping into a new software infrastructure, Salesforce. As a result, much of my time has been spent learning that system as one of the administrators for the organization. While the training was going on, the entirety of the team was in the office. As a result, I had the opportunity to meet and interact with the diverse crowd that we compose. Now I’m working on figuring out where Impact Washington is most successful within the manufacturing industry and how we can highlight that.
There are still several months left before I return home. In the meantime, I’m looking forward to heading into the field to meet manufacturers and continuing to learn and improve with Impact Washington.
Damon Devani is a student from Champlain College in Vermont, working with Impact Washington for the summer of 2017 as our Data Analytics Intern. Outside of work, he enjoys hiking, cooking, and film. He’s looking forward to exploring the area and getting to know the business over the next couple of months.
