Impact Washington, an affiliate of the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Manufacturing Extension Program (NIST MEP), is proud to announce that it has been granted the 2020  Chairwoman's Award by the Pacific Northwest Aerospace Alliance (PNAA).

The award recognizes the pivotal role the innovative and nimble Bothell-based organization has played over the past year in supporting and energizing the local aerospace industry by enhancing growth, improving capacity and productivity, reducing costs, and becoming more globally competitive.

A non-profit organization comprised of a coalition of aerospace companies that serve North America's largest commercial aerospace manufacturing cluster centered around The Boeing Company, PNAA bestows Industry Excellence Awards annually to companies and individuals who take the aerospace industry to the next level.  Chosen by PNAA's Board of Directors with membership input, PNAA's awards are presented in four categories: Company of the Year, Chairwoman's Award, Executive of the Year, and Inspire Award.

By raising the aerospace industry standard in the Pacific Northwest, Impact Washington was a deserving recipient of the 2020 Chairwoman's Award. "It's all in the name," explained Nikki Malcolm, NFM Enterprises, LLC and PNAA chairwoman. "The IMPACT that they are having in the industry to support companies to pivot during the pandemic and use their time to become more competitive, productive, and profitable will have a lasting effect on aerospace for years to come."

In 2020, Impact Washington's focus shifted to helping Washington manufacturers restart and rebuild. One of the first companies to provide a unique information portal for COVID-19 resources, Impact Washington's Restart Program offered each manufacturer a no-cost Preventative and Preparedness Assessment to comply with the state's Safe Start Plan.  In July, the company launched a Rebuild Program that gave manufacturers access to CARES Act funds through a Recovery Assessment to identify recovery projects.  They also worked closely with manufacturers during the early stages of the pandemic to provide much-needed Personal Protective Equipment, in support of Washington governor Jay Inslee's industry request.

"I'm proud to accept this award on behalf of my highly talented and dynamic team that is committed to building a thriving manufacturing industry across the entire state of Washington," said Deloit R. Wolfe, Jr., President, and Center Director for Impact Washington. "We're dedicated to empowering local companies to excel in every facet of manufacturing, and this commitment has been exemplified during the COVID-19 pandemic when each and every employee has risen to the occasion to provide our clients with even greater value-added service and support."

Over the last 10-years, Impact Washington has connected with 1,500 manufacturers, leading to $1.7 billion in sales, $365 million in cost savings, $986 million in new client investments, and helping to create and retain 16,333 Washington-based manufacturing jobs. As Washington's official representative with the National Institute of Standards and Technology's Manufacturing Extension Program (NIST-MEP), Impact Washington leverages a broad network of resources to connect small-to-midsized manufacturers with solutions that advance the industry.
