Highlighting the Work of Manufacturers and Energizing a Future Pipeline of Skilled Workers in Washington State

What are Manufacturing Day and Manufacturing Month WA?

National Manufacturing Day, an annual event that occurs on the first Friday of every October, is an occasion during which manufacturers open their doors, showcase the potential of modern manufacturing, and foster interest in manufacturing careers. Manufacturing Day 2022 will officially be observed on Friday, October 7th, but since manufacturing in Washington is too big for a single day, we celebrate MFG Month WA! Events have typically included in-person plant tours; however, due to the continued effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, MFG Month WA is incorporating both in-person and virtual events this year! The benefit of virtual events is the increased capacity for interested participants, as well as the ability to re-purpose and repackage the content since everything is digital.

National Manufacturing Day Mission

National Manufacturing Day addresses common misperceptions about manufacturing by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show, in a coordinated effort, what manufacturing is — and what it isn’t. By working together during and after MFG DAY, manufacturers will begin to address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public image of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the whole industry.

Manufacturing Month WA is designed to amplify the voice of individual manufacturers and coordinate a collective chorus of manufacturers with common concerns and challenges. The rallying point for a growing mass movement, Manufacturing Month WA empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive.
